Newegg Smart Home Landing Page
I was in charge of creating an effective landing page to promote a range of smart home products for Newegg.com.
This is my process.
Gather as much information as you can.
The goals were to promote a new line of smart home products, easy to understand and have direct access to each product page.
Before I start a project these are the 5 key things I need to have
- Try to understand the best you can the product or service we offer
- What are your business goals
- Have clear deadlines
- Communicate with key stakeholders (project managers) at all times.
- Have a clear understanding of your deliverables. ( website, banners, print pieces, etc. )
Creative Process
Once I have all this information. I start by understanding who would be my potential audience or customer. I try to create personas using some basic assumptions about who would be my potential customers, and why they would buy these products.
Since these landing pages will have more than one product and is not married to one specif brand, I will use Newegg’s brand guidelines to work on the design, and my personas to create a story of a young, modern couple.
Once all the mockup is ready for review I send it to project and product managers to review and make any corrections necessary.
Tools and Technology
To build this LP I use a variety of programs
– Balsamiq Mockups to create a quick wireframe.
– Adobe Photoshop to create every single image with a product placement
– Sublime Text is my favorite text editor to create web pages.
– Bootstrap is a free and open-source CSS framework directed at responsive, mobile-first front-end web development. This is my favorite framework, I been using it since it’s inception.
